The collections department is ultimately responsible for support and guidance of our customers in financial difficulty and to recover debt. The Group Head of Collections is responsible for the development and execution of the collection's strategy across the Group, to implement a holistic approach to collections, and arrears management capability group wide.

The role involves responsibility for collections and arrears activity across the functions within the Group across Retail Finance, Business Finance and Motor Finance, and with oversight of colleagues undertaking similar activities.
This is a first line role reporting to the Operations & Business Controls Director.

The role of Group Head of Collections is really important to us, and is intended to design, enhance & deliver an effective and efficient Collections capability, that meets regulatory requirements and conduct needs, and both supports and drives customers through payment deferrals, arrears, and collections processes, ensuring the service aligns to a group standard.

When the time is right, we would love to welcome you to our offices, in Cardiff, Manchester and Reading. In the meantime, you will be based remotely. You'll be made to feel part of your new team by your Line Manager and colleagues, through regular contact and virtual interaction.

What would your day look like?

Responsible for working collaboratively with the collections' leaders across the group to deliver a group-wide collections strategy.
Utilise change management, processes, and tools to focus on driving financial, and operational results for our function, shaping the changes; and designing the collections strategy.
Build a cohesive culture across the Collections functions, working on shaping appropriate plans, focusing on delivering against the One group blueprint.
Work collaboratively with the commercial teams in Motor Finance, Retail Finance and Business Finance to understand the overall business strategy.
Working closely with the Transformation programme, to ensure the collections functions are ready to receive the changes.
Recommending and/or implementing appropriate communication, training, and behavioural change solutions, and measuring effectiveness to enhance organisation, group, and individual performance and reporting activity.
Design, execute, develop and lead a professional and competent collections function across all products.
Shaping quality control within the 1st line, to ensure that our customer journeys, and work closely with 2nd line colleagues in Risk and Compliance.
Align the Target Operating Model activity, develop proposals for the Collections strategy and structure and input into the Group's change prioritisation and resource planning.

What do we expect of you?

Proven leadership and strategic planning skills.
Strong understanding of Mortgage/Car Finance and other lending products across the Group's portfolio.
Strong knowledge of regulations relating to conduct risk and collections (e.g. MCOB/CONC/SYSC 8)
Strong knowledge of compliance and governance.
Significant experience of leading collections and operational teams on multi-site operations.
Experience in banking and financial services, covering multiple product lines and functions. Understanding of banking / financial services operations.
Ability to build relationships across a wide stakeholder community across 1st, 2nd and 3rd lines of defence.
