Debt Collection Agency Specialist Credit Controller

We are looking for an experienced Credit Controller to manage the relationship with our chosen Debt collection Agencies and to carry out day to day credit control activities. The role is based in Media City and pays up to £24,000 per year.
Responsible for the day to day credit control activities for commercial & domestic services such as water, electricity, DUoS charges, hot water, gas, heating, cooling, solar and shipping water. The role covers all aspects of debt recovery service functions which supports the Utilities Businesses such as first line telephone response, customer correspondence, Direct Debit, card payments, debt letter process and disconnections.
Responsible for monitoring and reporting on chosen Debt Collection Aagency's performance.
The role is also required to assist in providing back up facility for all billing functions across the Utilities portfolio.
Duties & Responsibilities
• To manage external DCA relationships ensuring contractual agreements are adhered to
• Prepare accounts to be passed to external DCA
• To ensure all accounts identified to be passed to DCA are placed and returned on time
• To liaise with DCA by regular telephone reviews and site visits
• To ensure all processes associated with the outsourcing of accounts, processing of payments, returns and queries are performed with in SLA'a and controls and checks are regularly monitored
• To manage payment and reconciliation of DCA invoices
Knowledge and Skills requires
• Excellent understanding of credit control best practices and ability to deliver a variety of approaches to meet both customer and business needs
• Good core IT skills inclusive of knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and mail merge facilities
• Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to respond to all credit control queries in an efficient and effective manner
• Good understanding of legal practices in relation to credit control i.e. GDPR, Financial Hardship, Disconnection Policies
• Good understanding of all Utility services and contract terms and conditions
• Excellent team worker
• Proactively builds on-going relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to adapt as priorities/demands change and initiates action.
